COA Regional Office No. III Celebrates the Commission’s 120th Anniversary

Malolos City – The COA Regional Office III headed by Director Lynn S.F. Sicangco celebrated the 120^th COA Anniversary at the Malolos Convention Center, City of Malolos, Bulacan last May 15, 2019. With the theme “Matapat na Serbisyo Para sa Makabuluhang Pagbabago”, it was the first time such an event was made outside Pampanga where the Regional Office is housed.

In her opening remarks, Director Sicangco welcomed the attendees and promised a fun -filled day. The hosts of the program were Auditors Rowena Bucu and Roloyd Gozun who initiated an extra-ordinary introduction/roll call of all attendees based on their generation. As they were called, Baby Boomers, Gen X and the Millennials danced infront with Auditor Nino Tria of Bataan Group providing the dance steps.

In line with the theme of the celebration, Department of Health RO III shared valuable insight on voluntary blood donations program and targeting the youth or so called “millennials” as volunteers of the said program.

The highlight of the celebration was the awarding of the COA Region III Service Award for CY 2019. The COA Service Award, given to individuals with exceptional length of public service and outstanding contribution to the Commission, was conferred to Elenita DV Lumongsod, Edelmira Gonzales, Josefina Y. Guevarra, Carmelita R. Alvarez, Atty. Horacio An Oida, Corazon F. Bartolome, Gloviminda M. Casares, Emelinda R. Cruz, Gloria M. David, Patria A. De Guzman, Mercedita P. Dela Cruz, Jaime G. Dimabuyo, Lea S. Grivas, Isidra M. Manalastas, Conrado P. Maninang, Ruby R. Ortaliz, Alma D. Padilla, Marina M. Pangilinan, Digna C. Pascual, Rosita P. Quito, Josefina G. Sarmiento, Quirino T. Tabelina, Cecilia C. Tiongson and Susana L. Viray. They were each given a plaque of appreciation with citation for their exemplary performances.

The occasion likewise served as a venue in showcasing the talents of COA personnel. A special song number was rendered by Ms. Rebecca Villanueva of Bulacan, a dance number by Charmaine De Leon and Mark Christian De Jesus of NGS and a special number showing the talent of Ms. COA Luzon 1^st Runner Up Engr. Shaira Mae Gania of the Regional Technical Services with back-up dancers Dave Pangilinan of Fraud Audit Services and Mark Christian De Jesus.

In addition to the parlor games and best summer wear competition, raffle prizes were drawn. The Supervising Auditors (SA) and Regional SAs added color to the festivities with their videoke singing.

In her closing remarks, OIC-Assistant Regional Director Chona P. Laxamana thanked the host Bulacan Group for their hospitable gesture in hosting the event and the whole COA Region III family for the successful celebration of COA’s 120^th anniversary. – Janette Canlas Ama
